Review: Jay-Z, “In My Lifetime” Single
Shawn Carter’s True Vision… The intro to the first song has Jay-Z lamenting the death of a friend. The words he left to his friends and family were those immortalized by the Great Frank Sinatra, “I did it my way.” So, Jay-Z says, “I have no choice but to do it my way.” Jay-Z succeeds admirably. His focus, vision and intelligence are so clear on this first single. The style is very similar to his first album, Reasonable Doubt. Though Jay-Z was forced to make radio friendly bangers with his consecutive albums, to see how the man that has now mastered to rap game first started out, I suggest this single as well as Reasonable Doubt.
