Design is a way of life, a point of view. It involves the whole complex of visual communications: talent, creative ability, manual skill, and technical knowledge. Aesthetics and economics, technology and psychology are intrinsically related to the process.
In 1998, Steven Heller and the School of Visual Arts published Paul Rand: A Designer’s Words, a fantastic collection of Rand quotes, printed by Rand’s favorite printer, Mossberg & Co., typeset by his favorite typesetters, PDR, and produced with his favorite paper, Mohawk Superfine. Only 500 copies were produced and they are now a collector’s item. Today, the gem of a volume becomes available as a free PDF online.
